Diagnosis

The office was well distributed. All workspaces were located in the interior part of the building, with natural light coming in from an interior courtyard and away from the noise of the street. In addition, they were free of any serious geobiological disturbance from the subsoil.

Six main shortcomings were identified:

• Strong signal of electromagnetic waves emitted by a WiFi router located just one meter away from the workspace.
• Electrical installation without grounding. In addition to being a safety issue, it increased the electric field of the workspace.
• High environmental concentration of suspended particles in spite of periodic cleaning of the area.
• Rapid accumulation of carbon dioxide.
• High presence of radon gas coming from the subsoil.
• Low light quality of artificial lighting: incomplete color spectrum and excessive flicker.

Solution

• They needed WiFi connection, since some devices were wireless. Thus, the simplest action was separate the router only a few meters away. On the other hand, the arrangement of the electrical installation required the presence of an electrician.
• The lighting upgrades consisted of new broad-spectrum luminaires, which imitate daylight, and flicker-free. This performance also improved energy efficiency and comfort.
• As for radon gas, fissures that facilitated its access to the interior space were sealed. Ventilation protocols were also reviewed.
• Appropriate indoor plants helped absorb CO2 and suspended particles.
